Class of 1989! Nearly four decades have passed since you graduated as proud Quincy Blue Devils, stepping into a world undergoing historic transformation. Now, you have the opportunity to come together once again—not just to reminisce about your shared past, but to build a lasting legacy that supports the next generation of Blue Devils.

Through the Class Circles Challenge, your class can raise $10,000 to establish a permanent endowed fund—your Class Circle—that will support Quincy Public Schools students for generations to come. This fund will provide critical resources for technology access, arts and music education, mental health services, athletics, and college and career readiness—ensuring every Blue Devil has the opportunity to thrive. It’s a meaningful way to give back to the community that helped launch your journey.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of a classmate, your Class Circle fund is already taking shape. But this is only the beginning. Your senior year was marked by unforgettable moments and events that shaped both your class and the world. In 1989, the Berlin Wall fell, signaling the end of the Cold War. The Tiananmen Square protests captured international attention, and the Exxon Valdez oil spill highlighted environmental challenges.

Meanwhile, pop culture flourished. Batman, Dead Poets Society, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids filled theaters. On TV, Family Ties, Miami Vice, and Dynasty aired their final episodes, and The Simpsons made it’s debut. Music from Madonna (Like a Prayer), Paula Abdul (Straight Up), and New Kids on the Block (I’ll Be Loving You) defined the soundtrack of senior year. In fashion, acid-wash denim, high-top sneakers, and big hair ruled the halls, while Nintendo launched the Game Boy and students caught glimpses of a digital future.
