QPS Foundation Welcomes Three New Board Members

Erin Knapheide, Lucy Bordewick, & Jason Finney step on as QPSF Trustees

Quincy, Ill. –The Quincy Public Schools Foundation is excited to welcome three new trustees onto its governing board. Erin Knapheide, Lucy Bordewick, and Jason Finney were all unanimously approved to join the board in a vote by other QPSF trustees during the Foundation’s annual meeting.  The three begin their three-year terms in July 2024.

Erin Knapheide is a 1997 graduate from QHS. She attended the University of Kansas and majored in Communication Studies and Political Science. Erin and her husband Bo both worked in Kansas City and moved home to Quincy in 2005 when expecting their first child.  All 3 children attend/attended QPS and Bo and Erin are so happy and proud of their experiences.  The Knapheide Family bleeds blue.

Lucy Bordewick and her husband, John, are proud natives of Quincy who returned to their hometown in 2011 from St. Louis. They have three children in Quincy Public Schools. Lucy earned her degree in Communication and International Studies from Saint Louis University. After working in fundraising, marketing, and communication in both St. Louis and Quincy, Lucy founded Digital Thread Inc., a communication and marketing firm, in 2020. She is deeply committed to fostering an environment where every student and educator can learn, grow, and succeed, feeling supported and respected along the way.

Jason Finney is a 2000 graduate of QHS. From there, he went on to attend Western Illinois University majoring in General Education with a minor in Computer Science and Law Enforcement and Justice Administration. Jason has held several positions in our community centered around public service. He is currently employed with The State of Illinois at the Department of Human Resources as a Staff Development Specialist. Jason previously served the community as Alderman of the 3rd Ward.

Jason and his wife Nikki have two children, Nora (class of 2034) and Aiden (class of 2029). In his free time Jason enjoys CrossFit, coaching his son in basketball and cheering on the Blue Devil sports.

We are excited to have these three join us on the board at the Quincy Public Schools Foundation,” said QPSF President Lindsay Ertel. “They are bringing a range of experience and knowledge that will add so much to our governance. I am certain the QPS Foundation will continue to grow and flourish with their leadership & guidance.”

The new trustee’s terms run from July 2024 to June 2027, and the trustees will be eligible to run for consecutive terms if they choose. QPSF typically votes new trustees on to the board during its annual meeting in June. In addition to the new trustees, two trustees also stepped off the QPSF Board during the recent annual meeting. Dr. George Crickard III had served QPSF since 2001 and Rachel Hansen had served since 2014. Both Crickard and Hansen served as President of the Board during their time on the board of QPSF.

“It has been an honor to serve as a Trustee of the Quincy Public Schools Foundation,” said Rachel Hansen. “I trust fully in the current leadership of both the Board of Trustees and administration of the Foundation, and look forward to the wonderful things I know they will achieve for all the students of Quincy Public Schools.”

“I am proud to have served my alma mater for 24 years as a trustee for the QPS Foundation,” said Dr. George Crickard III. “We have come a long way in those years. The impact the Foundation has made toward enhancing education in Quincy is immeasurable. The organization is in great hands to continue on it’s mission.”
